Rainbow Bible Guide

Struggle with your Bible study? Bogged down in Leviticus or got behind in your programme? Try this instead.

I love the word of God, and have used this guide for 40 years! It’s given me insight into the whole Bible in a simple (and digestible!) form. Read from a fresh part each day. Discover how the Old and New Testaments fit together. And you never get behind!

Make your own guide

1) Download the manual 2) Make the ribbons.

1) Make the ribbons Buy 30cm-long ribbons in the seven colours of the rainbow. Glue or sew them into a cardboard or fabric tab 2cm wide in this order: red, yellow, violet, blue, orange, indigo, green. (It’s okay to overlap.)

2) Mark your Bible Insert the tab into the spine of your Bible. Put the red ribbon at the start of Genesis, the yellow at the start of Joshua, violet in Job, blue in Isaiah, orange in Matthew, indigo in the gospel of John, and green in Romans.

3) Start reading! Read a different part of the Bible each day:

  • Mondays, use the red ribbon and read the Law: Genesis to Deuteronomy
  • Tuesdays, (orange) read the synoptic gospels: Matthew, Mark, and Luke
  • Wednesdays, (yellow) read the history: Joshua to Esther
  • Thursdays, (green) read the letters: Romans to Jude
  • Fridays, (blue) you read the prophets: Isaiah to Malachi
  • Saturdays, (indigo) read the writings: Gospel of John, Acts, Revelation
  • Sunday, (violet) read the poetry: Job to Songs

Great revelation

This refreshing way brings great revelation to the WHOLE Bible without being bogged down. I try to read 4 chapters each day and mark where I stop. Then I’ll read through the Old Testament in a year, and the New Testament twice. But you can read as much or as little as you want. Let me know how you get on! johnf@jfm.org.nz
